How slow is a floppy?

This slow:

# dd if=dban-1.0.7_i386.ima of=/dev/disk3

That’s over 3 minutes, using a USB floppy drive connected my MacBook Pro.

(I needed a copy of DBAN on floppy so I could erase an ancient 60Mhz Pentium)
